When Judie and Gary first invited me to come and visit them in southeastern Arizona, it sounded like fun—but I had no idea how my life would change! Judie said I could stay in their 22' motorhome, "Gertie," which served as a convenient guest bedroom when they were not on the road. That sounded like an interesting novelty, so I said "sure!"
But then I got seriously interested in RVing...and what had started out as a jaunt to meet Judie and Gary, and to stay in their motorhome more or less as a lark, acquired an added dimension: I was going to meet Gertie, and find out firsthand how I took to living for a week and a half in a tightly packed space. I was pretty sure I'd be fine, since I grew up living in small apartments, but you never know for sure until you try...and this was going to be a very new experience for me.
I planned to record my impressions in a journal. And of course I brought along my Nikon 950 digital camera and my Mac PowerBook (and Wacom graphics tablet) so that I could both take notes and process images. So here, without further ado, is my Arizona Journal.
