My experiences at this park: click here and here.

Comments: This is the southernmost park in New Mexico; it's just 3 miles from the Mexican border and the town of Puerto Palomas, known for its inexpensive dentists and pharmacies. (They have opticians too, but Zenni Optical is cheaper and better.) There are excellent historical displays in the park's spacious visitor center. Nicely landscaped; turns into a real desert garden in April and May when the cactus blooms.

There's a small supermarket at the edge of Columbus, a couple of blocks east of the state park, but for a good selection you need to go up to Deming (33 mi. north). If you don't feel like driving, there's a shuttle bus; check in Columbus for times.

Electric power is weak; voltage can drop below 110 V under load. Don't expect to run two air conditioners at this campground.

There's a solid 3 bar Verizon cell phone signal at the park, and a fairly fast 3G internet connection.
