Comments: Powerboaters welcomed, so it can be a bit noisy. Minimal supplies are available in Henry's Liquor, Hardware & Groceries in Tierra Amarilla, but for a decent selection of groceries or a laundromat, you'll have to drive 28 miles to Chama. Worth it, though—it's a beautiful drive, and Chama is an interesting town.

As of mid-2013, Verizon cell phone reception is extremely weak, even with an external cell antenna and booster amp, and internet via Verizon is unusable.

IMPORTANT: if coming from south in an RV, avoid NM 112! As of June 2009, this road had 16 miles of unpaved one-lane washboard, ending in a white-knuckle drive across the dam (one lane, 5 ton weight limit, 30' length limit) with no way to turn back.
